ACTAE Project

Towards an agroecological transition in South East Asia

Project overview

A regional platform which aims at creating an enabling environment promoting agroecological practices and bringing together Civil Society Organizations (including farmers’ and consumers’ associations), Academia & Researchers, Development Practitioners, Policy Makers and Private Sector.

Aims and Objectives

ACTAE's  goal  was  to  put  in  place  effective  and  sustainable  mechanisms  to  facilitate synergies  between  existing  and  new  initiatives  contributing  to  the  agro-ecological transition.

(i)   To promote agroecology practices towards small-holder famers, consumers and policy makers

(ii)  To strengthen the R&D network on agroecology transition in South East Asia (CANSEA) in its function of research and promoting agroecology practices adoption

(iii)  To develop a regional Agroecology Learning Alliance in Southeast Asia (ALiSEA) to strengthen knowledge and share experience among agroecological initiatives and actors.

Two complementary components for synergic results

ACTAE project has been implemented through a consortium formed by CIRAD (Agricultural Research for Development, France) and GRET, respectively in charge of one component

CANSEA “Conservation  Agriculture  Network  in  South  East  Asia “

CANSEA was coordinated by CIRAD.  Its  goal  was  to  produce  and  promote  technical  and  organizational  knowledge on agroecology and conservation agriculture, to support an effective adoption.

ALiSEA "Agroecology Learning Alliance in Southeast Asia"

AliSEA was coordinated by GRET. Its goal  was  to facilitate  the  sharing  of  knowledge  and  experiences  among  stakeholders  and  thus increase the visibility of agroecology in the South East Asian region.
